If you need a change of scenery from the concrete jungles to lush greenery, then Kerala is the place you are looking for. The exotic backwaters, tea and coffee plantations of hilly regions and long beaches and coastlines are unique to God's own country. The monsoons which constantly hits this tropical setting leaves the mind fresh and pampered. The plethora of flora, fauna, minerals, rich soil and other resources found in the Nature makes Kerala a reserve of ideal ayurvedic remedies.

This south-western state of India has Ayurveda embedded in its culture. The kerala ayurvedic medicine system is much more than just a oil massage and herbal bath. Ayurveda is the way of life with the deep roots in ancient medical texts and literature which have been brought into effect in the modern tourism sector through researches and studies. In kerala ayurvedic treatment is not only a luxury of the rich but was initially the medicine of the poor. Ayurvedic treatment is offered in the most dilapidated government clinics and health centres as well as in the beautiful and tranquil resorts.

Ayurveda's tools include a wide range of body treatments using oils and herbal mixtures, a light ayuvredic vegetarian diet and yogasana.Regardless of the setting, the basic principle remains the same — to cleanse the body and, practitioners believe, give it a chance to balance and rejuvenate itself. According to statistics, more than  6 lakh foreign tourists, many from UK and America, visit Kerala, and nearly 35 percent are recurring visitors seeking Ayurveda treatments.
