Okay....Doing the Membership Thing

I have a membership to Planet Fitness, which has it's pros and cons.  Cheap, but they keep taking out equipment I like, so I stopped going.

There's an LA Fitness 1.24 miles from my house.  I realize the monthly membership is going to be quite more than I pay now, but they have a bunch of ammenities the other place just doesn't have.  So I'm biting the bullet and going over there right after I get out of work today to make a choice on a membership.  I need to be going for my pre-op stuff, my doctor will be thrilled...and I made an insane promise to some ironman guy who's probably reading this.  :D

Happy New Year.  I'll be posting again tomorrow.

by Amenities I assume classes.  I switched from PF to Golds for the Pool as well as the classes, which PF didn't do.  Its really worth it!  Spin class is awesome!  And if they have a pool for swimming laps, it makes it totally worth it.

It's LA Fitness, they've got a ton of classes.  I want to find out about the spin classes, and they've got a pool.  The fact they're within walking distance of my house leaves me with little room to bawk about going to the gym.

I wanted to do Lifetime Fitness....they had a play maze!  LOL

i switched from LA Fitness to Lifetime about 3 years ago, you pay a lot more, but wow, it really is a nice gym.  LA Fitness should be fine to start out, if you have younger kids, Lifetime may be a better choice if money isn't much of an issue.
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

right now.  somewhere.  somebody is working harder than you.

She shoots!  She scores!!

I'm now a member at Madison Athletic Club in Madison Heights, MI (not too far from home).  29.95 per month, I only had to pay the first two months and that was it.  The gal who took me around gym, Jenny, was awesome.  She didn't sell me, she gave me a tour.  The facility is awesome.  And it's so clean, which was something I asked her about when I called the gym.  Turns out we both used to go to a place on the other side of town.  She though it was dirty, I picked up an infection there.

The wally-ball room was awesome, and I'm hoping to drag some friends there and have some fun.  It's been years since I've played.  Anyways, they have a room for classes.  There was all the standard equipment for bands, step, floor, etc.  Then all this stuff hanging from a steel structure.  TRX Suspension Training.  Duuuuuuuuuude!  That's an additional cost, but it's minor.

The spin room...I actually got loud and squealed a little.  I know it's going to kick my butt...but...I was super excited over spin classes.

Anyways, I explained to Jenny what was coming around the corner for me and she got excited FOR me.  She took me back to her office and showed me a picture of her.  She's lost 90 pounds over the last year or so.  She offered to be my cheerleader, and told the trainer I'll be having a session with on Tuesday I was her new BFF.  I laughed the whole time.

I get ten free sessions with the trainer unitl the 14th of January.  Then sessions are $45.00 each.  He's kinda hot.  I could wing it.  LOL

SUCH a good day!
