I have a big announcement, training is about to get much tougher in a few months!
I was going to wait to tell you guys, but I can't keep it a secret any longer. Yesterday I registered for Ironman Louisville on August 28, 2011. I also went ahead and booked a hotel in Jeffersonville, IN about 2 miles from the host hotel. I found a great training plan to follow starting in March. I am so excited about this race, I cannot even begin to tell you! Thanks each and every one of you for giving me so much inspiration to persue my dreams!

That is so awesome! I have spent hours staring at the Louisville IM website contemplating.. I'm kind of hoping registration would still be open in spring after I do the half... Not sure I have your confidence that I could get there.. but Dan and the others here.. and now you! really make me want to :)
That participant list was last updated on December 1st and was looking pretty long, I wanted to go ahead and pull the trigger before I missed out, I have been going back and forth on this decision for 4 months. Last time I talked to my husband on the phone he told me I am his hero and to go for it, he knows it's my dream to complete an ironman, and that he'll be there ringing the cowbell for me, and will be there at the finish line waiting for me. That meant so much to me. He understands all the training involved and supports me 100%,he is a hands on dad,and will do everything for our little girls while I am out training. Having his blessing and support is what made me go for it. Fortunately, I got all my back pay the VA owed me yesterday and was able to pay the $600 entry fee. I am so excited! Let me know if you change your mind and decide to pull the trigger, I know you got this!

Way to put more pressure on me to do it :) Actually it would be fun knowing you're training for it too so we could compare our preparations and motivate each other.
My biggest worry is really just the swim. I've only just started swimming and have never done an open water swim, nor anything of length outside the 25 meter lap pool.
That said.. I am a little afraid I'll kick the half IM's butt in spring, and then feel let down because I won't be able to sign up for a full in 2011.
I wish there was a way to see how full it is so I'd know how much time I have to decide.

I bought a silver membership on beginner triathlete and I'm following one of the full ironman plans.
I was a little worried about the swim too, but I keep getting better. Sunday I swam 2000 meters in 39:16 and I know I will get better over the next few months. I need to work up to doubling that distance. I do all my training in a 25M pool, but in the spring I'm going to try to get into open water, currently my only open water experience was in the 2 triathlons I did. I know you have the dedication for the swim training.
You can look at the participant list that is current as of December 1st, its not numbered,so there is no way to know how close it is to full capacity. You could sit there and count all the people, but that would be so daunting lol.
I'm glad I registered for this race not knowing how I will do in Orlando. Whatever happens in Orlando, I'll know if I am on track with my training, or if I need more hours/miles in one, two, or all of the sports.

see what you made me do :) We're in this together.. the boss (my wife) said to "just do it" - I was hoping for more of a Rocky moment where Adrian tells rocky to win right before the music kicks in, but it was ok, I know she'll support me. I think I really needed this kind of mt. everest goal.

Congrats Andrew! It will be so awesome knowing another racer there! When the new participant list comes out both our names will be on it! I love the Rocky movies, a bunch of songs from Rocky 4 are on my run playlist. My husband, and I are staying at the Comfort Suites in Jeffersonville IN, 2 miles away from the host hotel, they have good rates, and refrigerators in all the rooms. The girls are getting dropped off with grandma, they will be 5 and 2 on race day, and we feel that's too long of a day for them.
This is so exciting!
