Your daily food intake should include whole-grain products fruits, vegetables, dairy products, meat, poultry, fish and other protein foods. Our body needs 40 different nutrients from different foods so we should source them from eating the right kind of foods. More than 50% of our diet should come from the above. Whole grains, fruits and vegetables give us our daily required dose of carbohydrates, protein, fat and fiber.

Instead of eating one big meal, eat 5-6 small meals throughout the day. This not only curbs hunger which is turn makes you eat less but it also works better for the metabolic system helping you to digest better. Do not skip meals. Skipping meals mean more weight gain.Breakfast is one of the most ignored meal of the day but is the most important too. Skipping a meal often leads to over-eating which in turn makes you gain more weight.

When eating a food high in fat, salt or sugar, select other foods that are low in these ingredients. If you miss out on any food group one day, make up for it the next. Your food choices over several days should fit together into a healthy pattern. Write down what you eat for 3 days. Are you having too much butter or getting enough fruits and vegetables? You are the best person to identify your mistakes and set them right.
