Strength loss

If that makes any sense. I'm asking if any of you have noticed that you not able to lift as much as before surgery. I ask because I've always been fairly strong and I'm concerned that I won't be able to be that way with the deficiencies. I started lifting again in September, just for excersise at first but now I'm really into it. It's probably dumb, I know, but it's also four in the morning and it's been bothering me.

thanks in advance.

I don't think that there is any reason that you won't be able to get back to where you were. It is going to take some time but once you are able to get in ample calories and protein to add muscle, you should be okay. I always consentrated on keeping my legs strong because they were used to carrying arouind a lot of weight anyway.

I lost a lot of strength.  I also lost a lot of mass (duh) that makes it harder to lift as well.

I used to just toss weight around like it was nothing, my body could handle picking up a couple hundred pounds.  Now a couple hundred pounds outweighs me and I really have to pay attention to form etc.  In the past it would have been nothing to grab a couple 60 pound bags of concrete and carry them into the garage.  Now that is enough weight to throw my balance off, so I carry them one at a time.

The strength can come back.  Just keep up the good work.

i lost a ton of strength during my fast fat losing phase even while i was lifting to maintain.  it was a good thing that i did, it mitigated massive loss of muscle which can and will happen if you let it.  i've spent a solid year and half hitting the weights 3 or 4 times a week, but i've gained all my muscle and strength back plus some.  in many ways i'm stronger now that i've ever been, even when i was a football/rugby player in my youth.
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

right now.  somewhere.  somebody is working harder than you.

If you don't do enough strength training, you will lose strength. It's hard not to lose *some* mass though even when we strength train because our muscles needed to carry around a much bigger person for years and now they don't. But strength training helps.

You should have any deficiencies if you take your supplements and eat healthy foods at least 80% of the time.

As for me, I started doing Crossfit and now I can deadlift 114 pounds (which was my body weight at the time) and I am constantly moving up to the next highest bell when we do kettle bell workouts. I'm stronger than I've ever been even when back when I was thin and young.
