I am eating three times a day and not big amounts. No sugar or snacks. Walking two miles a day with handweights. I heard that the less you  have to lose the slower you lose the weight. Then I think maybe it is a good thing that I am losing slower to minimize the saggy skin. Am I expecting too much. I am so happy I am inthe 180s. I almost didnt qualify for the surgery. Was 100 over my ideal exactly. Opionions Please....

On average, you can expect to lose 20% of your excess body weight per month.  So, it sounds like you're on target.  Again, on average, with 100 pounds of excess body weight, you would expect to lose:

month 1 - 20 pounds
month 2 - 16 pounds
month 3 - 13  pounds
month 4 - 10 pounds
etc.

Congratuations on your surgery.  Join us on the exercise and fitness board for a lot of great inspiration to adopt an active lifestyle as part of your journey.

You've lost 40 lbs since October????  That's pretty good!  It's only the first of December!

The closer you get to your "goal" weight, the loss will slow down.  You will also plateau at certain points.

What are you taking in, in those 3 meals?  How much protein?  Are you getting in A LEAST 64 oz of water a day?

You're walking 2 miles per day, but at what pace?  How long is it taking to walk those two miles, you may need to increase your pace, increase your heart rate, and in turn increase your weight loss.

You also don't say how tall you are or what your BMI is at 180.  Also what is your gender?  Generally, men will lose faster and in many cases more than women.  Hey, no sexism here, its just is the way God made us.

Bottom-line, don't be too hard on yourself and you may be expecting too much.

Hang in there!

You don't give the date of your surgery but even if it was Oct 1, you've lost 20 lbs a month.  Doesn't sound slow.

First goal reached at one year.

You have recieved wonderful words of wisdom so far!

You are doing great with your loss so far!  You can't compare your weightloss to those who have more to lose than you.  You may want to consider joining in on the Light Weight board.  Most of the folks there have had nearly 100lbs or less to lose.  You would fit right in!  They are a fantastic group and very accepting of everyone no matter where you started or what type of surgery you have had!  I've found I'm less judgemental of my successes with a group of people that began where I did!

Lightweights don't really lose slower. In fact, most of us get to goal faster. But we lose lower absolute pounds because we have less to lose.

For example, let's say you have 100 lb. to lose and someone else has 200. One month you lose 10 pounds and they lose 15. You have lost 10% of your excess weight but they've only lost 7.5% of theirs! So you are actually losing at a faster rate than they are.

I had lost 32 pounds by 2 months out and I got to a normal BMI by 6.5 months and my final weight at 10.5 months.
