I may not actually be crazy........

but that remains to be seen! LOL

I went to the doc yesterday for a physical.  He found it VERY odd that for as much running and lifting I do, I haven't lost a single pound in over 9 months. I am the same weight I was when I began running (I've lifted all the time since surgery tho).  He did full blood work on me, he thinks something is amiss - I was 220lbs at the appt and had done a mile in 11.5min that morning.

This may sound odd, but I'm actually hoping something IS wrong.  I've been busting my AZZ working out and running and haven't lost ANYTHING.  I'd like to say that I'm more concerned with my progress and faster times, but I'm not.

He's guessing hypothyroidism - but I don't have very many other symptoms - BUT - I'm a 'House' case type lol  I had the flu last year - I went to the doc for a pain in my back, no other issues - they did a nasal swab and it was positive for the flu.  I had no fever, no chills, no coughing or anything else - just the pain in my back.  That doc said it was the strangest case she'd ever seen.  I like to think I'm a medical pioneer of sorts........ LOL!!!!

anyway - if anyone else has had any experience along these lines, I'd love to hear some feedback from you.  I should have my results next week, I'm crossing my fingers for a problem because otherwise - I may just be crazy for real!!!

thanks for listening!

thanks shell - I have been researching online and had a huge WOW - panic attacks are listed as a symptom.

I had them BAD about 3 months ago - so much so that I 'crashed' at work a couple of times - VERY scary.  I started taking 5-HTP and it helped with those - but added to the rest of the stuff...... I'm thinking my doc is really onto something.

I guess that's why they do that whole school for 8 years, then rigorous testing and certification stuff, huh?  LOL!!!

At least you have a doctor that probably HAS read a journal or two and is interested in finding the problem!!  That is priceless!

I'll ask it...I know others have thought of it.  How are you doing with your simple carbs?  That one will stop the weightloss in it's tracks.  You may want to talk to your dietitian and log your food intake.  But, hypothyroidism does fit the symptoms too.  Just my thoughts.

Ohhhhh brother - I have been the carb counting QUEEN in my day! LOL

It's not the simple carbs.  I did a stint of Atkins, then South Beach at one point - nothing.  I actually gained when I cut out most of my simple carbs - but I do limit them and I do balance them with protein intake when I do indulge.

Trust me, I thought of that too.  However - over a year ago when my eating was actually worse - I lost.  I'm doing much better today (technically) but way worse off weight wise. What I love is that this doc has 'followed' me since WLS and knows my habits, knows how I am 'on' it - so I think i have a good shot at tracking down whatever is going on.

Thanks for your reply!

Thanks for responding back. It was like..."How do I ask this question without being offensive"?  Yes, it does sound like it is glandular.
