I seen Seht mention wetsuits on an earlier post.  Ever since loosing 250 lbs I am having a hell of a time swimming.  I sink like a rock.  I guess I fat is very buoyant as I used to like to swim, but I am having a heck of time now.  I really want to try a triathlon this summer.  Are wetsuits really worth the money, are they necessary, which kind, how much to spend on your first one.  Im sure you all have lots of opinions, and any help would be great.

i've done somewhere around 10 tri's in the past two years, none of them were wet-suit legal (i live in GA), so i don't have a wet-suit.  It would make sense if you are planning on racing in cold weather or cooler weather enviorments, but if you are in the south, it might not make sense.
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

right now.  somewhere.  somebody is working harder than you.

Be sure you are getting a wetsuit for the right reason. If you are not as bouyant, you need to work on your kicking during the swim. You should wear a wetsuit when the water temp is cold enough to justify one. I can get you hooked up with a good XTERRA Wetsuit... They have a blowout on their entry line (Which is still better than a lot of other brands medium to top line) for $99.99. Let me know...

I wear a wetsuit whenever it's legal to do so. It makes me MUCH FASTER than I am in the pool.
