5 more days until the marathon! Fighting a few obstacles.

My tapering schedule began, but according to my legs it wasn't tapered enough. I had to reduce my mileage to barely anything last week. My right shin was in bad shape. I tried to watch what I ate, but this was the worst week to go at it. The scale is up and I dread carrying those few extra pounds for 26.2 miles. I  felt like I needed some emotional and mental reassurance so I got back out there on Saturday and I managed to pull out 9 miles. I was dragging a little, my shin was okay, but my hip protested the run. Oh well....no one said running a marathon was supposed to be easy! I'm praying things come together and the nerves don't get the best of me. Please say a prayer for me. I'm going to need every bit of it.

Hey Girl... It is your nerves getting the best of you. REMOVE the "IF" from your vocabulary and focus your positive thoughts on the FACT that you WILL finish this race! All you can do is give it your best. Is it going to be tough? YES... Is it going to hurt? YES (Even if you were in 100% health)... Will all the training, sacrifice, and blood sweat and tears be worth it when you cross the finish line? ABSOLUTELY YES!!!! YOU WILL DO THIS and it will be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life!

Nothing screws with your head more than tapering for a big event like a marathon. Add the uncertainty of an injury and you have close to a perfect storm of mind suck. Just relax and take a few thousand deep breaths . You have this.
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

right now.  somewhere.  somebody is working harder than you.

This is going to be the greatest accomplishment of your weight loss life.  Very, very few people even attempt a marathon, much less finish one like you are going to do.

Remove all thoughts of pacing or finish times, etc. from your mind.  Your one and only goal is to finish.  It won't be easy but you can do this.  You didn't put in all the miles to not accomplish this terrific and inspiring goal.

Last year, I was able to do this same marathon and I was able to finish.  It was awesome.  Dan was there before and after and it was a great help.

I will be there this year.  If you would like to meet up, I would happy to help with that as well.

Good luck!!

Thank you. I really needed the boost. You are right...I'm throwing out the small stuff. Getting to that finish line is the only goal. Thanks again! Best wishes.

You will do great! Leave all the negative thoughts in the car when you get to the marathon, you don't need them.
