I'm thinking of investing in one of these - any recommendations?  Seems like Garmin has cornered the market, but it'**** or miss with customer support for some of their products......

If anyone here has some real world experience, please share!!!

I don't just have issues, I have subscriptions!  I'm saving on the newsstand price.......

I love my Garmin 305 Forerunner.  It's a little bigger than the 405, but I see that as a benefit so I can actually see the numbers.   There are some pretty good deals out there on this model...$128 to $148 depending on the vendor.

The only time I've ever had difficulty with acquiring satellites is in a city surrounded by skyscrapers.

I've had my Garmin Forerunner 405 for about a week. I am getting the hang of it. I really like it. Yeah, with my aging eyes, I do have to look pretty hard to see the pace. The reason I got the 405 instead of the 305 was that I found an awesome deal on it and I like the idea of syncing up to the computer when you are just a couple of feet away rather than plugging in. I bought mine at Bodytronics.com for $194, used a coupon code and got it for $182 w/ free shipping.

I love mine!  I have the Garmin Forerunner 305 and I've been very happy with it.  I have no idea how it compares to other models, but it works great for what I need.

The first time I used my 205 about 4 years ago, I was shocked at how easy it was. Just turn it on, give it a minute to aquire satellites and go. I admit that the only thing I use is distance feature to find out how far I went. The pace feature is usually not correct on mine.

I've had my Garmin 305Forerunner since July and love it.  it seems to take a minute or two to acquire signal and it's pacing is a little off when I'm in the woods, but otherwise, it's distance is right on the money and i love the feedback while i'm out on a run.  I also love uploading a run to my computer to see how i handled elevation, etc..
