Tall men with big calves - I need you!

Howdy folks,

I need some recommendations on compression knee high stockings.  I have a history of blood clots and my right calf averages 20" circumference.  Even the XXL socks that I find in medical supply stores are not big enough, and one pair that was wide enough was not tall enough (thereby harming circulation since it only reached 2 inches below the bend of the knee and significantly indented that area).

If anyone has recommendations on stockings that work for us tall and large calved people, I'd love to hear 'em.  My docs are recommending I run with them on too and I know a lot of you run with 'em, so...

Thanks!

Depending on who you see, you may need something higher than a knee high.  Work with your drs. on that.  That being said..you will probably need to go to an orthotics place and be measured and they will probably need to order your hose "custom made".
I won't lie , they are pricey, but insurance should cover some if not most of the cost.  I have to have thigh high ones and once I've met my deductibles and out of pocket costs, my insurance pays for the entire cost.  Otherwise they paid, 80 percent of the cost.
I go to Creative Orthotics at Island Fitness.  May switch to another orthotics place closer to home.
Good luck ..let us know how you make out.

Michelle my dear, I feel your pain.  I have huge calves.  What I done was went to a local running store and bought some compression leg sleeves.  That way you can still wear your favorite socks.  I wear that under my full pant length compression bottoms.

I am not tall, but thats what I have done.
