Anyone have to take a break due to injury with your marathon training

I have a bad shin and now my hip is super sore (same side). I'm sure the hobbling shuffle I have to do the first mile or so is the cause of the hip issue. My marathon is in two weeks!!!
I finished my longest test run (20 miles) on Saturday. This week's training schedule has really wiped me out. Monday (5 miles) I had bad leg cramps and was so sore. Yesterday, I did 8 miles and was in pain the entire time. I'm super sore today. My husband wants me to skip today and Saturday (14 miles total). I've followed this schedule closely and worked so hard. Will I lose what I've built my taking two days off? I'm freaking out. Pulling out of the race is not an option. I'm okay with managing pain the entire race. I pray it's not the case, but pulling out is not on the "table". Will I be okay taking two days off or should I try to run a little?

If you are hurt, resting is going to offer you WAY more than running will.  take these days off.  if you MUST, go for a walk instead.  let your body heal.

You are right. It comes down to the fact that I must be well enough to make it to the starting line. It's just so heartbreaking to be injured after all that I have put into training for this big goal. Thanks for the encouragement and advice.

I have no advice but just wanted to commiserate and say how much this sucks for you. I would in my novice opinion tend to agree with Sue though and say rest is probably best. Your body will be able to handle more and run better if it has been given some time to heal. Good luck!

Thank you. I appreciate your encouragement and support. The journey has been an accomplishment in itself. I just pray I can be well enough to end the journey with a finish. Thanks again!

First congrats on your success thus far!  Listen to your docs.  In the long run it's better to rest a few days than push through and make it worse to where you absolutely can't race because you have done further damage.  I understand the need though, if you have to walk a little but still don't overdo it.  Remember you are running to be a healthier person, you don't want to defeat that purpose.  Hang in there!

You are right. I need to focus on making it to the starting line in good health. Thanks for the encouragement and support.

I wouldn't run a step for a week or so. Than test it out. Maybe a few 3-5 mile runs the week before just to loosen up a bit. You have the fitness to finish and have to make it to the start.

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to pay close attention and I will do whatever it takes to make it to the starting line. Thanks again for the advice.
