Embarrassing Problem! (My Nips!)

Okay as embarrassing as this is, I thought I would post.  I got clearance to do my 5K, I am stoked about that, but after starting training back up, my nipples have been sore.  Today after running I noticed my shirt had areas of blood from my nipples.  It hurts, not to mention very embarrassing.  Any other guys had this problem?  What did you use to stop it, I have a race this Saturday.  I am thinking maybe band-aids to prevent chafing?

I haven't had this problem but I wear compression shirts under a shirt.

Where do you get those?  Best brands?

I wear the starter ones from walmart ($10) but the underarmor will last longer ($25)

This is actually a common problem. I use regular band-aids, and also wear UnderArmour compression shirts. Any big box sporting goods store will have them. This time of year, I like the "ColdGear" - it keeps you warm, too. Good luck!

UnderArmour is my best friend.  Keeps everything in place while running and keeps fro chaffing as well.
I have not used the walmart brand, but U.A. has lasted me quite a while.  I also really like the Coldgear.

Haven't had the problem, but some of friends of mine use a product called Body Glide.  It prevents chafing and bleeding.  Pretty common among male runners.

Have had this problem.

Compression shirts work well.  Make sure they are tight.  In races and long runs I back up the compression shirts with the little round band aides.

Good luck!

i used band-aids until i started using compression shirts, then never had the problem on my nips again.  (but have had issues with chaffing at the edges of my compression gear.  i use under-armour tank tops two sizes too small to make sure they hold everything together (i.e., i wear an XL shirt normally, and a medium compression shirt, large sized compression shorts for underwear, the "boys" don't like to be squeezed into a medium :) ).
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

right now.  somewhere.  somebody is working harder than you.

I run a bit, and have ONLY wore compression, never band aids, and never had a bloody nipple, except for this one time at band camp when I was in charge of gratting the cheese, but thats a different story for a different day...
