I am new to this forum, so please excuse me if this question has been asked 10,000 times.

On Thanksgiving morning I will be running a 5K. I am looking for a possible Protein bar to have before the race.

Yes, I know I should have a protein shake - and probably will - but in case I need an "extra" boost - can you recommend any?

I know it should be: no more than 30 grams of protein (20 to 25 ideal); no more than 10 grams of carbs (5 grams ideal) and no more than 250 calories (less than 200 ideal).

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!!
Good Luck on your Journey !!

Tom

I am sure that someone will have a real answer for you but for a 5K I don't do anything. Just not out there long enough to need any extra nutrition. As a matter of fact, I don't eat anything before I run and only supplement if I am going out for more than 8-9 miles.

I am with Scott. Just steer clear of the Fiber the day before, a light breakfast, and perhaps the protein bar should be saved for AFTER the race to help with recovery... A solid breakfast might be a banana with some peanut butter on it...

For a 5k you shouldn't need much if anything.  Make sure your hydrated, may want to carry water with you.  After you finish, having a Luna Protein bar or something similar is an option.  Have fun and enjoy.
