Great job.  The first race is always one to remember.  Look for race number 2, to keep the drive going.

Hi Lori - congrats on your decision to start training!  I've written a lot about my experiences in my blog at http://www.sangriasisters.com.  Feel free to check that out and contact me through the website.  Best wishes to you!

Thank you all for the kind comments!  Deciding to hang out more on this forum has really helped me transition to thinking more about fitness and overall health and less about the intricacies of the first year of post-op life.  Putting emphasis on fitness has helped me improve my iffy relationship with the scale as well - it matters a lot less what it says when I feel better and stronger!

It didn't take me long to make up my mind - I learned about a local 10k that's held each year in early March.  Perfect - 3 1/2 months to train!

Great job Michelle. I know exactly how you feel! And you did great. My first 5K was in October, and I actually got a medal for being dead last out of 203 runners. I didn't even care, I was so thrilled to have crossed the finish line.

Congratulations on this amazing accomplishment!

Thank you!  This is the inspirational shot in the arm I am in need of right about now...  I've been slacking these past two weeks and don't know why.  Anyway, I just packed my gym bag for after work Wednesday.  I'm (still) in week 9 of c25k.  Seems like I've been there for too long.  Something psychological about actually finishing it?  I don't know...  Anyway, I hope I am back on track Wednesday and enjoying the chilly, but sunny, afternoon.  Thank you again!  Your photos are fab - so beautiful!  Look at that smile on your face.  It says it all... -margaret

Great job. Now save your race bib and write the date and time you ran on it. Next year when you run it again, you will have a goal to beat. I have three years of bibs tacked to my cubicle wall at work. I have heard of some people putting them in a scrap book.
