Advice welcomed, please!
All the gym trainers give me different advice so i am asking you people who actually DO the exercise what you think! People here gave me helpful advice when I posted in the early stages!
Am i doing this right? Bear in mind I am 60 next month, please!
Background - never done regular gym exercise but am fairly fit! An active person. The only instrument of torture i am prepared to use is the treadmill as I can watch the News while doing it - so no point in suggsting a change even if that would be a good idea! Not even the bikes!
Started October 6th. Going to gym about 5 times a week.
Started Level 6 ( speed up to 7.8, gradient up to 7) - 20 mins, then 25 mins then 30 mins as it got easier.
Repeated process for level 7 ( speeds up to 8.2 kph, gradients up to 7.5). In case different machines are calibrated in different ways, at my weight of about 156 lbs, 30 mins at Level 7 burns 350 cals. (Not relying on that, just to give you an idea of what the programme is.)
Now on 20 mins Level 8 ( speeds up to 9.2, gradients up to 8). Finding this HARD. I walk extremely fast and can walk at up to 8 kph, then I have to run. Now walking at about 8 kph is fine, but running at the same speed is SOOOO hard. Somehow, I can walk but not run! So that 9.2 bit is hard!!! Only lasts about three minutes but i am gasping by the time it gets steeper and slower! Gradient is no problem at all.
Am i doing this right? Should i go back to the Level 7 for a bit. At my age, am i being a bit too ambitious? Not in it for weight loss - for overall health.
Love to hear any comments!

Hi Kate!
I would recommend doing intervalls. If you google interval training or over/under training, you will find a lot of valuable information. If you don't want to figure it out on your own, you can also select one of the programs on the treadmill. I often do the Random program; takes the guessing out and switches things up as well!

yes, i do the programme on the treadmill which changes from one thing to another, upping and lowering effort levels etc.. Not random - i like to be able to think "only X minutes of this bit to go" - but it is intervals.
