Has anyone attended this event in the past, or will be attending the event on May 7th 2011? My son and I, along with my girlfriend are close to signing up for this. I have done numerous 5K's,10K in the past year. Please give me advise when doing a1/2 marathon for the first time. Not sure what to expect, except that I know it is double the 10K distance we have ran in the past. How does one know when they are ready for the next level?
Thank you for sharing your wisdom.

you've got plenty of time to build up that distance.  I never ran more than 10 miles before I tried my first 1/2.  I'm not familiar with this particular event, but i say go for it.  Just start making 1 day a week your day for a "long" run.  add a half mile every week to that long run.  Plan to consume some GU or other nutrition along the way as 13 miles takes a while and your body will want replenishment.
