Time to come clean
Hi everyone,
I need to do some housekeeping! Those of you who have been on this board a long time, know that I have been struggling with my band throughout most of 2010. As the year is coming to a close, I have realized that I have used my band issues as an excuse for a lot of bad choices I have been making.
Although the band issues did prevent me from running ealier in the year, that is not the case now. I had an unfill at my last visit which has left me with no restriction. For those of you who are not familiar with the band, no restriction means if I follow the band recommendations for food intake, I will be hungry most of the time. If I chose not to be hungry, I need to eat more. That in itself is not the problem. The problem has been the food choices I have been making and failing to exercise accordingly. As a result, I have gained 12 lbs since my appointment last month.
All this time I have been putting the blame on the band; well, the band does not decide what I am going to each, how much or when I am going to exercise. I, and I alone do that, so I am to blame for my recent weight gain. Well enough is enough; I am getting back in the saddle and will be doing the C25K starting tomorrow morning.
This board helps to keep me accountable, and that really helps. Thanks everyone and have a good night.

I have never made it to goal but had stayed pretty stable in my weight for several years. I had my TT last year and my pants were tighter instead of loser! I kept telling myself I was just swollen from the surgery. I was "swollen" from the food choices I was making and not exercising as much as I could. I finally weighed myself a few months later; I was up 19 pounds! I did what you plan on doing; put my nose to the grindstone and the weight has come off plus a few more! I am actually a size 12 now, I was a 14 when I had surgery and fitting into some 16's when I finally reigned myself in.
You should be proud of yourself for taking control back and making a plan!
This is when stepping on the scale is a good thing. Congrats for catching up with the gain before it got really out of control!
We're all rooting for you and are completely confident that you will do great!

Jet,
You'll banish those 12 pounds in no time. During my hiatus from running, I wasn't as careful with my food choices and gained 10 pounds. Once I became accountable to myself again, they melted away. I think the beauty of the active lifestyle that we've chosen is we know that it takes a plan to reach our goals....and it feels so satisfying to achieve them.
You've got this.

Thanks everyone; I knew I could count on you fine folks for support. Seems that there is a lack of free time with my son playing football, my daughter playing in 2 orchestras and playing soccer. I just have to schedule my workouts. I am meeting a trainer to put a plan together to get me to my goal weight. Need to up my cardio for sure.
Thanks again everyone.

Thanks again everyone.

I hear ya, Jet. I haven't put any weight back on, but I haven't been losing, either. My problem can be summed up in one word - SUGAR. A few candy corns here, a fun size candy bar there - it all adds up. Good thing I'm exercising regularly, or I probably would have gained some back. First thing I gotta do is get this Halloween candy out of the house!
