I've noticed I do better on my cardio workouts if I have some protein and some carbs about 1 hr before workout. I've tried some peanut butter peanuts bars, what are some good snacks? Thanks.

Here are my normal pre-workout snacks:

Cheese sticks and carrot sticks
Greek yogurt with fruit (I buy it plain and put my own fruit in)
PB & J sandwich (only 1 piece of bread and no sugar added jelly)
Protein bars (the kinds without artificial sweetener so there are enough carbs in them)
Trail mix
Protein shake (if it's in the morning as that's my normal breakfast)

I like a banana thrown in a chocolate protein shake made with some greek yogurt.

I also do some flax cereal (food for life)  in plain greek yogurt.

Pizza and beer are reserved for rest stops during race silly boy.

Not as a pre-fuel.

That's why I'm slow ..... no pizza and beer during my races! I remember during my next race.

Banana, peanutbutter, Wendy's Chili, orange juice...The beans is the chili are some good carbs, but the meat will weigh me down.  The orange juice will spike your blood sugar (not good), but the potassium I think helps me because I only ride for about 30-40 minutes at a time.  Just me...Brian
