POLL: do you exercise with music?
In the gym, most definitely.
Running on the streets or a paved trail, yes.
Running with my boyfriend - no.
Running in the woods - no.
Street races - yes
Trail race (the one) - no.
I'm not sure why trail vs street requires the change in sound, but there must be something about hearing the leaves beneath my feet!

I need music! If I am not listening to music, my head starts messing with me and telling me I can't. Music is a good distraction for me, but when I am running with my husband I don't listen to music.

I do my exercising at home, so yes, either to music or with a tv show on. that makes it more fun to do....Sometimes I have to set a timer so that I can exercise for the full amt of time I want to work out, because I feel like I'm not in the mood, and I don't allow myself to quit until the timer goes off. You would be surprised how fast the time goes, and how much better you feel afterward!! Sometimes I even find I have hit a groove by the time the bell rings, and I don't stop, I just keep going another 10 or 15 minutes!!!!
Forced music during spin classes or body pump classes.
Yes when running on the treadmill in the gym
Not so much when running outside. Occasionally when on a protected trail secure from traffic.
All that being said, most of the time it is just background noise. Unless it's a really hard rocking song with a powerful beat, I just tend not to notice the music.

The first time you do something - It's going to be a personal record!
No.
I "watch" tv when I do HIIT on the treadmill in my living room, but I pu****uotes because it's such a hard workout that I mostly jus****ch the timer on the treadmill and can barely pay attention to anything else.
At the gym, no, because I weight train with my husband and we converse a bit. I think I'm going to start taking my MP3 player to the gym though. It should alleviate some boredom that is creeping in.
