Shoot me straight on true muscle gain

I love to lift weights - other than running, it's my fave I've consistently lifted since I was permitted to do so over 2 years ago after WLS and I'm convinced it was a vital part in me getting to where I am now.

What's the skinny on gaining true lean muscle mass?
The scale has been up consistently in the last month or so but my clothes fit the same - and almost better - so i know it's not fat - I've always been leary of knowing I've gained true muscle mass but is it possible for sure?

Be happy.

I have put on 25 pounds while wearing the same clothes. It is possible to lower body fat and gain weight at the same time. I believe muscle is 3 times denser than fat , so 3 pounds of muscle or 1 pound of fat would fill the same space.

The scale has inched up for me as well. However, my clothes are fitting the same. I think we have to use a differnt measuring device. You look fab! You have truly come soooooo far! Congrats! You are so inspiring. Keep up the good work.

You could get your body fat tested regularly and that would help if you have trouble knowing by looking at your own body (because, let's face it, we don't always see what is really there). I have a scale that is pretty accurate for body fat but I still don't trust it so I like to get a dunk tank measurement once in a while.

It's a lot harder for women to bulk up with muscle like guys do so probably we aren't going to gain 25 lb. of muscle. But a few pounds? Definitely!

I am up about 3 pounds over my lowest weight but my clothes are actually looser. In fact, I realized today I have to ditch the pants I was wearing -- they are just too loose now -- even though I weigh more than I weighed when I bought them.
