OMG!! I did a half marathon today!!!!!!
And I have one question - what's the proper etiquette for passing out after a race? LOL!!!! Oh - and is crying allowed?
That was the most grueling, hardest and most intense thing EVER!!!!! And I am doing it again in San Antonio in 3 weeks........ it's getting harder to argue when folk call me stupid..... .lol
I did well pacing myself and staying hydrated - I was dehydrated yesterday so I got really serious and concerned and made sure I got fluids in all day yesterday and before the race today. I just hate that I am so freaking SLOW!!!!! They haven't posted the official results yet, and there was no clock to view, but my friend that I run with finished WAAYYYY before me (as usual) - and I'm feeling like 'what's the use?'
The cops were waving the last of the pack to the sidewalk because they were opening the streets back up - talk about a DOWNER!!!! I thought I was keeping a good clip until then.....
Ok - I gotta go - I'm starting a pity party this afternoon and don't wanna be late......

Congrats! Crying is fine. I cried every time I had a new long run over 14 miles. 14 - 16 - 18 - 20 - etc... Way to go.

Congratulations on finishing your first half marathon. Celebrate the accomplishment of pushing your body for 13.1 miles.
My first marathon took me 5 hours and 55 minutes. It was fairly lonely at the finish, but I figured it was pretty amazing that I had kept myself moving forward almost 6 hours. The winner ran less than half as long as I did, albeit "a little" faster. ;)

Congratulations!! Please don't be down on yourself. That is such an amazing accomplishment after being as overweight as most of us were.
I finished my first half last weekend (and not fast at all!) and I really thought I would be emotional near the end. BUT, I found I was just so mad about the hills all being at the end of the race that I didn't shed a tear.
Now that you've overcome a huge accomplishment, get pumped up to be faster on your next race! :)
