Happy Saturday Workouts!!!
As I pulled into my driveway at 12:20 last night my delima was to either run then or wait till morning. Due to my living on the short cut road between two of Americas largest casinos, I decided to wait. The fear of drunks is less at 5:45 am than 1am. Anyway, after 4 hours of sleep the alarm wakes me more abruptly than a kick in the balls. I stagger out of the house and lumber down the cold dark road wondering what the hell I am doing. After a mile and a half, I am at the end. Half way there, I turn to head back. As I make my way up the long un-lit rural road I wonder if that rustling in the woods is a bear? Most likely a squirl but before dawn everything sounds like a bear. As I approach my driveway dawn is just starting to crack over the eastern horrizon and I no longer wonder what the hell I am doing. I am doing what I want to be doing in 10-20-30 years. Running!
Anyway, 3.2 miles this morning before 16 hours of work today.
What did you do on this awesome Saturday!!!

Good plan to wait til morning!!! You are in for a long day!
1 hour zumba class for me. Rest day of C25K. Had back issues this week and missed zumba Wednesday. May start weight training this evening. Looking for a beginner plan. I had a plan someone suggested bookmarked on my old laptop but switched and didn't transfer my bookmarks. Does anyone remember the website???

That alarm clock went off way too early for me too, this morning. But, once I was outside on the trail with the birds, squirrels, bunnies and deer, I too knew I was in the right place at the right time. Put in a nice 20-mile run in preparation for the Hamilton Marathon in 2 weeks. Now, it's time for my ice bath and a cup of hot chocolate. Have a great weekend.

6.57 mile run. My butt was dragging! Pace sucked (11:19).
At about mile 4, it dawned on me. DOH!
Since the first of September, when I had a horrible flu and was bed bound for two weeks, I've been craving, and indulging in: Trail mix and extra thin crust veggie pizza. Seriously...two of my mainstays for over a month.
No major weight gain. Haven't been logging my food, nor have I been tracking my protein. After contemplation the remaining 2.57 miles, I have realized that my low protein could be ONE MAJOR REASON for my slower pace the past two months.
My protein (up until 9-1-10) was always around 120g. per day, if not higher. For the past month two months, I bet my daily total hasn't exceed 40g.
Time to track my protein again! Hopefully by Turkey Trot time my pace will be back to where it typically is!

Every morning in Africa , a gazelle wakes up.
It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed.

It knows that it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve.
It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle
when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

Definitely on the same wave length this morning. Early to rise, got out and ran 8.5 miles. I think I find it is much easier to run in the dark. I don't think about distance. Finished that run, then hauled it up in the car to NJ.
I got Cooper Park around 8:30a for the Inagural Cogenital Heart Walk. Great cause. I have a very good friend who is a survior, has had multiple heart operations, the first at the age of two. She asked for my support so I obliged. My life and journey seems so simple compared to what these infants and adults with heart irregularities go through. Even though it was a walk, I felt good and ran the 3.6 miles around the lake, and then went back about a mile and a half and walked back with the team. It was a great day.

My schedule is all screwed up so I went on an open water swim today instead of my usual Sat. Man, the water was choppy. I thought it actually hated me and didn't want me to get back to the starting point.
