Yep... I'm a failure

So I reserved a bike at spinning for today at noon, and well I am not making it.

This past week has been the hardest week for me ever. I was so motivated in the beginning to go to the gym but that withered away when the scale didnt move anymore from the hard work I was putting in.  I dont know if I am not doing something right or what.

But, I am just so ashamed to do a group class... Does it get any easier?

You probably just hit a stall, which are very frustrating.  Put your scale away for a couple weeks and when you need motivation just look at how far you have come already and then just go for it.

Sometimes, you just have to bite the bullet and do the hard thing.  It sucks.  But you can do hard things.  This is my mantra (that I totally stole from another OH person) when I run.

Don't let the mean scale determine your success and self-worth.  Stalls are normal.  Fluctuation is NORMAL.  If you are going to weigh in regularly, you should learn to accept that sometimes the scale is going to mess with you.  And when you start new activities, it messes with you more!!  You just have to push through knowing that when what you put into your body is less than what you are doing with your body, it will all make sense in the end.  You just gotta make peace with the fact that some days your body is retaining water, or poop, or whatever.

YOU CAN DO THIS!

It's 11:45 in Michigan right now. the sun will set around 7:30 so you have 8 hours of sunlight to get outside and go for a walk/run. You only fail if you don't try. As far as weight goes if you start exercising I'll almost guarantee that you will not lose any weight for a little while. For a few reasons;
1. If you have been sedentary lifestyle then your body is reserving energy by holding onto fat reserves. Your body will start burning fat big time after you exercise more often and for longer durations.
2. You are building muscle and muscle weighs more than fat. Personally if I end up weighing the same weight I am today but with on 17% body fat it wouldn't bother me a bit.(It ain't happening)
3. your just in a frustrating stall it happens to almost all of us and some point in this crazy weight loss process.

My advise is to stop weighing yourself!!!! I weigh myself about once a month if I remember to. I'm now guaging my success on running, swimming, and biking further and further. And also on baggier and baggier clothes!

You find that you have peace of mind and can enjoy yourself, get more sleep, and rest when you know that it was 100% effort that you gave --win or lose.

Well I dont know if you can have stalls without having the surgery. I am on the presurgery diet program that is required by my insurance before the they will cover WLS.

I have to do weekly weigh ins at my surgeons office so I wish I could put the scale for away for a few weeks.

I just feel like I am doing this for nothing and I will forever be a lump on the couch.

Tell your surgeon and their staff that you are intimidated by the scale and would rather not know the results of your weighin every week.  Discuss how it makes you feel, but in the end you just have to do it.

Stop calling yourself a failure!  you're not....you just have to get past the fear of gym.....seriously....I have been 300lbs for years...at first I was scared to go to the gym, or have a trainer, or get on a spin bike, or what were others going to thing....

Seriously once I did, I was surprised that no one cared....no one looks or stares, on the contrary, everyone is super supportive...and really supportive, not the pity support for the fat girl......

I had surgery in july, I'm down 45 lbs...and feel great.....just do it.....and just think...even the skinny people, and the super fit ones, they all have the same feelings you do, they are wondering if people are staring, looking, etc.....

Just do it!

What's so shameful about a group class?

I've been running more and more in training for a half marathon in November and my scale is going up! But that didn't stop me from getting out of my before 6 am this morning to run - and i will again this evening

Be happy.

It is only shamefull to me. I am ashamed at my body and my lack of being phsyically fit. I just need to get out of this mental block that I have and tread on. I havent really worked out since Saturday and I feel guilty but apparently not enough for me to move on from it.

I am in a mental stall iIguess.

you only fail if you quit.

I repeat what I said earlier (and please do click on the link in my post):  You can do hard things.  We have all come from where you have.  ALL OF US - and we are here to show you that you can do it!  We believe in you!
