Toga Duathlon
Completed my first duathlon. Wow was it harder than I thought it would be. It was a 5k - 25k - 5k. I realize now I have a lot of work to do on my biking.
I did ok for me in the 5k runs, with a 24:53 and 28:16, but wow did I suck in the bike at 1:01:26. I'm not going to use it as an excuse, but I had either a misaligned rear wheel, or else a bent whee, as it was rubbing the whole way making lots of noise. Had to stop right on a hill to try and fix it, which of course was dumb (try getting going on an uphill in the middle of duathlon with clipons... I really just need to work on it more, but I knew that going in.
Coming off the bike.. wow.. now I know why its called a brick. Can't imagine how its gonna be after the long rides. My transitions suck too, mainly because I hurt my hip on a bad fall a month ago, and I just can't bend over to change the shoes, so I ended up on the ground.
But I'm happy with my 86th place:) It was a blast, can't wait to do more of these!

Congratulations on your latest adventure! I've got to find one of these to try.

great job, it's all about the experience... and all i can say is, practice your bricks! it gets waaay easier when you are really intimately familar with "that feeling" in your legs after transition. keep it up!
Where are we going?? And why am I in this handbasket??
right now. somewhere. somebody is working harder than you.

Awesome! Having not attempted anything like this, my hat is OFF to you! Great to experience on transitions in a race, you'll be ready for your IRONMAN!!
Good job!

Good job,
You certainly will get better with the bike to run transition.
I'm not fast and never will be, but I can get off the bike and run now, where before it felt like I was walking on someone elses legs, they just didn't want to work after getting off the bike.
Keep up the good work, and get that hip checked out.
