I came in last.  I was so far last, that they had to hold up the awards ceremony to wait for me to come in.  I was really embarrassed.  My time was 50:45.
I'm proud of myself because I know that 8 months ago, I couldn't walk around the block; but none of those people know my story and they just think I'm super slow.
So anyway, I'm poud and embarrassed, but the first one is behind me and i'm going to continue to work on my time!

Don't be embarassed!  You finished!  How much faster are you then the thousands around town that didn't even get out of bed?  You did it and finished!

I did my first 5k last weekend and I was last of 203 runners. I even got a medal!

My time was 53:30. So you even beat me!

If you want to see the pictures, click the blog link in my signature. It will make you feel better, I promise.

You did an extraordinary thing, and it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. YOU know what an amazing accomplishment this is. YOU know what it felt like to have your body do something you never dreamed was possible.

You should be very proud of yourself, and it doesn't have to be diminished by embarassment. Your first race will always be an extremely important milestone, especially given how far you've come. Cherish the memory of crossing that finish line. It is a joy you have worked hard to earn!

Congratulations...

Think of all those folks who don't even want to walk to mailbox (or can't!).  You did a great thing for yourself, and those people that waited for you to finish...they showed you the respect you deserve!  Congrats!  Well done!

i agree with what everybody else is saying... you may have been last @ the race, but you beat the millions of people that did nothing that day.  great job!
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

right now.  somewhere.  somebody is working harder than you.

The key is that you finished, don't look at it that you finished last but rather you set a personal best.  Now you have a time to strive for next time.  The fact that you started means you did better than most people.

Congrats!

You know I am so profoundly proud of you. It was awesome to see you cross that finish line and to see the pride on your mother's face.

You find that you have peace of mind and can enjoy yourself, get more sleep, and rest when you know that it was 100% effort that you gave --win or lose.
