Men VS Women cycling padding

Hey all! Is there a difference in the padding on cycling shorts because of the different anatomy?

I am having a heck of a time finding cycling shorts or pants that dont cost an arm and a leg for spinning class and I have noticed that the men's versions are a little cheaper!

Thanks

I think it's worth it to have ONE really high quality pair. They will last you a while even if you wash them after every use.

In fact, I bought a bunch of cheap pairs and they are all looking kind of sorry but my one expensive pair is still going strong. I should have saved my money on the cheap ones and just done a lot of laundry. LOL

There is a difference in the padding. Men's are cut a bit more narrow and run tighter in the crotch. I've worn both and done ok but I like the women's fit better. Teamestrogen's prices are very high. Shop around (bike nashbar and performance bike).

I second the comment about the quality of more expensive shorts. They are worth the money if you are spending a lot of time on the bike.

Good Luck.

The cost of an arm & a leg is worth it compared to having a crotch that feels like raw hamburger! Trust me...

I don't know their quality, but a good pair of full length cycling pants tend to run in the $100 price range and up.
I don't know if they make bib shorts and pants for women, but I love them.  You can't tell when you weare your jersey over them, they fit so much nicer and you never get that feeling of having plumbers butt or a verticle smile going on.

The vendor for these capris is from the same person you posted a link on a previous post about plus size shorts. I have no idea what brand they are or what the quality is. I think I am going to look locally first and then back on the internet.

Yes! They are anatomically different.

You can buy a good pair at Sports Authority for pretty cheap.

Forget the gel seat covers! A common misnomer is the softer the seat, the better ur butt will feel. False!

U want a firmer saddle. U want to sit on ur "seat bones" Not the soft tissue of ur butt. That's where the chaffing/discomfort comes from.

They have women specific saddles too.

Trust me. It's these little things that make ur chosen sport much funner. Who wants to keep riding with a sore butt.
