Exercise bike hurts my butt

This is pretty embarassing but I need some help.  I have a perfectly good Reebok exercise bike that I recently got from my brother.  I was going to begin riding the bike at least 30 minutes everyday before I get WLS and beyond.  My biggest deterent right now is that the seat hurts my butt.  I've tried it out the last 2 days and I can't get past 10 minutes without hopping off.  I have a 2 year old son and getting to the gym isn't always an option.

Does anyone know of a way I can get some relief?  Is there something I can buy?  A certain way to sit?  Anything?

You have to built up your tolerance, but some cycling shorts will def hel;p! (They have a nice pad / chamoise) . Give it time...

Hi - you can buy gel seat covers which slip over and provide some cushioning. I bought mine from a cycling shop and it wasn't too expensive - made my RPM classes go much easier.

I got a new bike about a month ago and I had the same problem. I bought what looks like a tractor seat and put that on there - problem solved!

you can wear shorts or get a gel pad etc... but the best thing is to just get used to it.  in a week or two you won't even notice it anymore :)   good luck!   i love the bike (both stationary and road), it is waaay easier on the bod than running.
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

right now.  somewhere.  somebody is working harder than you.

GAH!!! that's the WORST!!! I feel you! I have a big booty and I always get a KILLER wedgie when I ride the bike too!  I got a seat cover and just had to move around a little bit until my butt got used to it!   I feel your pain though... literally... pain lol GOOD LUCK!

Thanks!!  Us big booty girls have to stick together...lol  I've been riding for about a week and I did exactly what you said.  Wiggle around until I find a bearable spot...it's getting easier though.  I guess my butt is toughening up.  lol

perseverance and trying to work aroudn the obstacle works..

there are gel type seats that you can purchase. that fit over the regular type seat...if not try a salvage yard or a scrap metal place and ask them if they have any older/traditional type bicycle seats....you may be able to swap what you have
