Yesterday morning I ran my first 5K.. the Lt. Dan 5K in Beaufort for wounded warriors.  My goal was to run the whole thing without stopping to walk and I did it !  Finished in 35 min 39 sec !  What a rush !  This was  a personal victory for me.  Having been overweight my entire life, I couldn't run the mile back in high school.  I always walked it.  I felt such a sense of accomplishment yesterday !  I was on a high the rest of the day.  Now I can't wait to do it again and beat my time !

That's awesome, Bren! Congrats! Running my first the end of October. I'm currently doing Couch to 5K. Today I finshed week 5, run 3 -- 20 minutes run without any walking in between. That was a big deal for me! I can totally see the progress from week 1. My goal is the same as yours - no walking, but giving myself more time than 35.39. Not sure I'll be there. ;) So happy for you... -Oh, and I adore Beaufort. I was there last year for a day and totaly enjoyed myself. :) margaret

That is so exciting! Good Job!!! I can't wait until I do my first 5k but I'm running out of time here in Iowa. Most races are done for the year. Oh well I will keep running and do one in the spring. Julie

Great job! That is one of my goals too. I couldn't even come close to running the mile in high school either.

Your time was significantly better than mine. I was just happy to finish.  I ran it in 42 min 12 seconds.  I can't wait to run another one. I've decided to run the Savannah Bridge Run in December. It's over the Talmadge Bridge. 5.5% grade for 3/4 of a mile then 3/4 of a mile down the other side.

You find that you have peace of mind and can enjoy yourself, get more sleep, and rest when you know that it was 100% effort that you gave --win or lose.
