Running Question

When I run my legs swing out to the side. Does anyone have any tips on if this is correctable and if it is how. I just feel it's inefficient to run this way.

Do your legs swing out because your thighs hurt from rubbing? I was doing this in the beginning and I bought some body gilde to put on between my thighs and the swinging stopped. Also if this is the issue you could wear spandex shorts under the shorts you run in.

No pain or rubbing. I just automatically swing my lower leg out with every step. I think my thighs stay pretty close together.

BTW there is a great 5k  in Beaufort this weekend if you are interested. It's just a hop, skip and a jump from Hinesville. It's to raise money for Wounded Warriors.

I heard about that one, but I'm doing the Jacksonville Marine Corps half marathon this weekend, but I will be doing the Bluffton half marathon on November 13th. I did the firecracker 5k up there on July 4th this year. One of the girl's I was in the Army with lives in Beaufort so I really do have to get up there for a visit.

Jill comments were right on the mark.  I think we all probably had that problem to one degree or another when we started.
Also you might consider that you will become for efficient the more you run.

Good luck on your journey!

Watch this video! This is of Hillary Biscay, a WORLD CLASS Ironman Champion!!! Start paying attention at about 2 minutes into the video and at 2:07 it shows Hillary  running as she "Swings" her leg out. It actually looks painful to run the way she does, but she has mastered it and is an incredible athlete. I do not have great form, but I love to run, and I am getting better at how I do things, not worse at how other people do things... Enjoy the journey and Kuddos for getting out there... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xeeXbWqF0io
