How soon can I start exercising?

Hello all.  I have a membership to Curves but have not gone since I had gastric bypass surgery on 8/9/10.  I'm just curious how many weeks post op can someone start working out again.  Any input is greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

I was told I could walk as much as I could handle but no elliptical or machines until 6 weeks and I didn't feel like it then. I waited until 3 months. My surgery was open, don't know if that makes a difference.

You should do what your surgeon suggests...

You should ABSOLUTELY check with your surgeon on when he'll release you for what activities, especially weight training of any sort and bouncy-type activities.

That being said - no reason not to get out walking! :)

Good luck.

First off, listen to your doc.
But for me, I had surgery on Monday, and was back in the gym on Friday.  I was just barely walking the treadmill, but still keeping up the exercise habit.

Good luck.
