Bummer..

So Wednesday I woke up and I felt pretty crappy, thought it was a head cold...figured I could deal with that.  13.1 miles on Saturday with a cold was going suck, but I could do it. As I was driving to class that afternoon I noticed the red splotches on my leg...awesome, I knew exactly what it was...cellulitus!  Nothing says "good luck in your half marathon on Saturday" quite like a bacterial infection in your leg!!

I'd gotten it a few times before my RNY but haven't had a bout with it in over two years.  I called my doctor's office and got an appointment for today.  I KNEW he was going to tell me not to run on Saturday, but I was kind of hoping he would tell me to push through it and just take the antibiotics and I'd be fine.  Yeah, he told me there was ABSOLUTELY NO RUNNING for at least a week.

That sucks and I'm wicked bummed out about my race on Saturday.     I know there'll be other races and I just need to get myself healthy...but still, it's a bummer.  Just had to vent, I know you guys will understand where I'm coming from...thanks..

Vent away! We totally understand your disappointment.   Although there will be more races in your future, being betrayed by the body so close to this one just bites. But,  I'm sure you're already on the hunt for a replacement.  Take care of yourself and you'll be back on the road soon.

That sucks! That would totally frustrate me. Sorry you can't do this race but taking care of your health first is what it's all about and you will do the next race. Still can feel bad and holler about the unfairness of it all and we are happy to listen!

Katie, I am sorry you will miss this race but I know you will run the next one with passion and determination to make up for it!
