Core exercises???

I know that I should also ask my surgeon, but when did you start core exercises?  I have been cleared to go to the gym and have been doing treadmill, stair climber, exercise bike, and some light weights.  I am 5 weeks out from surgery and realize that it could take up to two months to heal.  So when can I do abdominal and lower back exercises?

You'll want to hold of the core. My doctor said 2 months for all your tummy muscles to heal properly. I'd ask him as all our surgeries are difference. Also talk with him/her about weight training. Would be terrible to hurt yourself now.

Great that you're heading to the gym!

I was cleared pretty early out to do "whatever I wanted" but I found I couldn't do real core work without pain until 6-8 weeks out.

Thanks I got the clearance today at 5 weeks out I can do core exercises, but that I should do the exercises in moderation.  So I have been advised by a trainer to do low reps on crunches and bridges (which I hate lol).  Both advised me to not push myself to hard and to be careful.

Wish me luck and reclaiming my stomach.
