Race Decision
I have been training for a 10K on October 24th for three weeks now. Last year, I set two fitness goals for myself: to run a 10K before July, and to run a half marathon at the race in October. In the Spring, I had really bad stomach issues and was existing on boost for two months. That stuff will keep you alive, but will not fuel you to run, so I stopped running.
I have really enjoyed getting back to running. This week however, I am sad to say that my stomach issues seem to have returned. I am having a hard time eating and keeping food down, and the reflux is horrendous.
I have made an executive decision to run a 5K at the October race. I hope to work on improving my speed, but more importantly, I want these health issues resolved. Running a 5K may not seem like a lot, but at the moment, this is what I've got. I refuse to stop running again; guess I'm just stubborn like that! lol!!
Thanks to all my friends here who have been so supportive through this trying year; you all mean a lot to me.

not to worry, there will be plenty of other races, your health is waaaaay more important. take care of yourself, it is admirable that you will be running any races after your stomach issues. good luck, and try to just have fun!
Where are we going?? And why am I in this handbasket??
right now. somewhere. somebody is working harder than you.

Jet,
Sorry to hear that the stomach issues have returned. Like Bill said, there will be many races in your future when you get this thing licked. Training for the 5K will keep you in the game and the yogo will keep you centered.

Hey Jet,
Really sorry you've been having trouble again. I don't get on much anymore, but I thought I'd send out just a little reminder that even though you have goals set, the surgery and your health is for the rest of your life, so the little setbacks right now aren't much in the grand scheme of things. Although I'd LOVE to train for a full marathon in January, I know there isn't the time right now. I'll settle for the half until I'm out of school (or at least done with coursework) since that's the best I can do right now.
The main thing is to take care of yourself and be the healthiest you that's possible. All my best, most positive energy coming your way!
