Lower back pain while running
Has anyone else experience lower back pain while running? I don't feel it when I cross train, only when running. I wear compression tops (usually two) to hold down my extra skin around my middle the best I can and my current shoes are relatively new (May). I'm waiting to hear back from my insurance in regards to my plastics consult, I'm hoping that'll take care of it...but in the meantime...what have people done to deal with it?
Thanks guys, and as always, I appreciate anything you have to offer!!

Have it...Had it. Years ago the orthopedic surgeon wanted to do surgery. I said no, and just learned to lived with it. I stopped playing a lot of golf. I stopped jogging...The WLS helped quite abit. When I went back to jogging (and racquetball) post op, the pain came back. The reason I took up bike riding is because of my back. Just me.
i have a nagging/chronic overuse injury with my left IT band, when it flares up, usually the symptoms are back, hip, hammy, or knee pain, depends on the hurt-du-jour. not sure if this is what you are going through (over-use injury that is), but i would suggest cross training for a while and taking it easy running to see if it improves, if it persists, get it checked out.
Where are we going?? And why am I in this handbasket??
right now. somewhere. somebody is working harder than you.

I have had low back pain since 1993 when I was pushing a way too heavy wheel barrow around. In about 2004 my fourth chiropractor gave me a some core exercises to do that would strengthen my back and stomach muscles. That along with a stretching routine allowed me to be pain free for the first time since I was in high school. When I slack on the stretching and core work (now) my back hurts. When I am on it, it feels great. My 11.6 mile race 6 weeks ago really strained my low back and showed me that I have not been working on it enough. I can't say that your back pain could be helped but I would not be surprised either.
