I have the Specialized Base Roubouix and love it.  Considered the Trek Madone 4 series and the 5 series as well, and looked at Cannondale and Felt.  The Specialized fit me better, I am 5 ft 8 in and have short arms.  I love the responsiveness of my Specialized and have around 400 miles on it now.  It was my present to myself when I got below 200 lbs (last April).  Now I can almost keep up with my Wife on her Trek 4.5 Madone.
I would suggest going into the shops and test riding as many as you can before just buying one.  Not sure about your area, but in Madison, WI they have what is called Bike-O-Rama each spring where a local vendor sets up in the Expo Center.  This guy has 4 or 5 shops in the Madison area and carries 6 or 8 brands.  It was a good place to put bikes side by side and compare them in person.
