Roller Blades..would love to get some, but big ankles...any suggestions?

I used to rollerblade like crazy when I was younger (and thinner, and fitter, etc, etc,). But now that I'm starting to lose some of my weight I'd love to try it again. But one of the problems in the past was that I had a hard time finding a pair that would fit around my ankles and not be too big in the feet! The last pair I had were men's, I had to stuff a sock in the toe to make them fit! Anyone have any suggestions on where to look, or have you had any luck with a particular brand? Thank you!

No advice, but a comment that rollerblading is on my list.  By my birthday, in April, I hope!  Not sure how to go about learning how to do it, though.  Suggestions?  I checked around my area for lessons or teachers, but only found ice skating lessons.  I hope you find blades that work for you!  -margaret

How about inline speed skates....think Apollo Ono style...they only come up sort of like tennis shoes, but are inline skates (Apollo Ono does speed ice skating)

You could also try going for old fashioned quad skates.

Maybe you can go to a skating rink and try a few pairs out and see what you like....
