Finding motivation

I've had it and lost it .... with my workload and the amount of time i spend sedentary and reading/studying to make the grade and my two jobs .. I've lost my motivation.  Its so much easier to just try to take my few fleeting minutes of free time to chill and not do anything.  I mean .. I get 2 miles in walking daily just going to and from class .. but I honestly need more then that .. its a battle to not be lazy and I need to find motivation again.

Whats your motivation?  Weight loss?  That worked for me until I got here and started classes and then it kinda just poofed ..... the feeling of invincibility when you've pushed beyond where you thought you could?  it works .. but when I've missed a day I loose the memory of that high .. and it loses its luster.  Grr

For me it is that sense of accomplishment and strength. I impress myself each time I go out and walk or run again. Have to drag my ass to do it sometimes and there are plenty of days that during the run I have to set mini goals...like picturing a cheering crowd and finish line at the top of the hill halfway through my 5k run. it is all physicological and whatever works to help get you through it or out the door in the first place. Once I finish though it is such a high from the physical effects of exercise but also from the psychological it is self rewarding, I am reminding myself of how strong I truly am and of how much I can take care of myself. Not sure if any of this helps but I do know that we all have to push, prod and shove ourselves to do good things sometimes.

for me, having a race/event already signed up for is what keeps me going.  I want to know I'm giving each race my best, so I get out there and put in the miles.

It's getting pretty hard with work, school, a social life, and a new boyfriend, and I'm not hitting the streets like I normally would, but I'm still getting out there, and hopefully it will pay off for my next event.

Maybe a goal like this would help you!

My desire to NEVER be 400 pounds again compells me. YOU have to find the motivation to get moving! I carry my old drivers license or a picture with me when I go to the gym and have that looking back at me to remind / motivating me. You have a lot on your plate, without excercise, I don't know how I would find balance in my life. I get up at 4am to get my training in...

You have to have your "own" time everyday to stay sane. My "own" time is VERY early in the morning with weights and an ipod. There is no excuse not to go when everyone else in my life is sleeping and do not need me to do something for them or take them somewhere. If they want to bother me as early as I go then it must be important to them. Funny how I never have missed calls on my cell phone while I'm at the gym.
No longer about weight , it's all about living.

I'm also a full-time student (pharmacy school) with a job and a high-needs dog.  I'm also the president of a student group.  After all these years, for me it's mainly habit and the desire to stay where I am - fit and healthy.  I really don't feel good when I don't exercise.  I don't have as much time to do it as I used to, but I make the time usually early in the mornings.  I go to the gym on the way to school most days.  Sometimes I make it after classes and before studying.  Actually, my gym time IS my time to myself and it gives me a chance to clear my head before I hit the books.  My other little breaks are walking the dog.  I can only study for so long, so I really need those times to clear my head.

Anyway, that's how it works in my life.
