Used treadmill??
I really want to buy a treadmill, but I don't want to spend over $500.
At 230 and wanting to build up jogging.. There dosnt seem to be a lot out there. Most of the review put me in $1000 treadmills.
I have found a 2nd hand shop with scratch and dent models, like an espirit 488 for $700.
Any other suggestions??
Thanks,
Teresa

You'll probably get more bang for your buck by joining a gym. I know that's not what you asked - but there's a lot of clothing hanger treadmills in people's homes - so Craigslist is good to scoop those up.
I do most of my walking/running outside, and the gym has the bonus of weights, rowing machines, elliptical, stairmaster, classes, etc.
Whatever you do - start off slow and steady!

The models gyms have are by far better quality - and more expensive. I agree that you'd get more bang for your buck going the gym route rather than trying to buy a TM that's hopefully good enough to do the trick. My gym membership is pretty expensive in comparison to many - $650/yr. But in the 6 years I've been a member, for the services and equipment I use, I still could never have purchased myself what they have to offer. Besides, they take care of all the maintenance and repair!

I got a used one at Sears, it was a return, maybe you can find one there. We also have a chain of second hand sports equipment call Play it Again Sports, maybe you have one close.
I agree with the gym, but only if its close to you. I had one 15 miles away and I think I went 3 times. Now mine is within 2 miles and I actually go.

I agree with the gym idea, but make sure it's close to you. I find that if I have to think about it and drive to long, I don't go. It either has to be close to or on the way home from work, or within walking distance from home.
Craigslist is a good source for equipment people bought over New Years for a resolution that usually lasts a few weeks....
