Just had to share that for a year now I have been doin cardio as the exercise of choice post-op. At 5 weeks post-op I decided to get out the house and  make my way to the local college in my neighborhood where they have AWESOME, well lite walking trails. I begin walking 7 days a week, after work in the evenings and after church services on Sunday...I TRULY found something I LOVE. On August 3, 2010 I was a year out and STILL going to the same walking trails except for NOW I consider it my RUNNING trail. I have increased the pace of walkin and have included jogging. I tell friends all the time...it's FREE, the fresh air is great and it stimulates both MIND & BODY.

If you're wondering what form of exercise to go with post-op...I would suggest start with walking, find a safe place YOU would go back to and as you go challenge yourself to pick up the pace and eventually do some light jogging..it's rewarding and promises to help shed MORE pounds!

Girl, I'm sharing your joy!  Sometimes it's hard to get my butt out the door, but I feel great.  I went from feeling sick and being in pain, to feeling fit and strong!  For me, it's the best thing about my new life!

Around local colleges work well.  Like the one you found close by.  They usually have security around and are nicely landscaped.

Cabin111..you are soo right..the campus police are always in sight  around the perimeter and it gets dark pretty late so there is plenty of daylight nowadays..I love it ;)
