Last week I was supposed to do week 3, I messed up and started week 4.  I just couldn't manage the 5 minute run....so here I am repeating....

Today I did W4D1 and I just can't get past the 5 minutes, I rest and take a 30-45 breather at about 3 minutes.....

The thing is, I think I can do it, and it is totally in my head that I can't....I don't know how to get past my mental blockage......any suggestions....

I will stay repeating week 4 until I can do it, I have no hang up on repeating...I just want to get over the mental hangup......grrrrrr

Yeah, it is mental. Honestly, the only thing that kept me running past the 3 minutes is the fact that I post my workouts on dailymile.com and it posts to my fb page. I didn't want to say that I had quit. lol.

Also, some on here say 'trust the training'. I say that to myself when I want to quit.

Good luck and YOU CAN DO IT.

I try to just force it.  Chances are, if you can run through those thirty or forty-five seconds you stop to take a breather, you will be able to finish the segment.  During a workout when I feel like I can't continue, I try to tell myself that I'm not having an asthma attack so there's no reason to stop!

Do what feels right for you. It took me two weeks to get through and feel comfortable with week 4. That is the good thing about this program.

Keep up the great work!!

It is tricky to overcome that head thing!  I try to psych myself up...I know that lots of people have been able to complete the program, so I can too!

Get some good music to listen to, play it loud...

If you find yourself having a hard time, slow your pace a little, but don't stop!

When you start to fade...pick a spot in the distance and make that your goal, then make another goal.

Another thing I find helpful is to use my running time as "me time"  I think about all of the things that are rolling around in my brain, and before I know it I have forgotten what I am doing!

I had a hard time (mentally****il I got to week 5 run3 (20 minutes no walking), but before I started I said...this is for me and it is ALL me...you promised yourself you would do this, so keep your promise!  Now I know that I can make it through just about anything!

Remember why you are doing this!  It is all for you, and you can do it!

I use a treadmill, so I think I'm going to trick my brain and cover the monitor so that I don't know how long it has been......I'll report tomorrow....

Thanks,

I covered the display and I managed to get through it....weird...it's like I psyched myself out by looking at the time....not knowing how much time has passed helps, before I knew it the 5 minutes were over!  wow!!!!  It is funny how our brains work sometimes!
