Roux-en-Y or possibley the DS if I can get that to work out.    I have my first appt. with my surgeon in a couple weeks so I'll find out then.  You had the DS didn't you?  Why did you get that done instead of the Roux-en-Y?  Are you glad that you did?  What is different about it?

The DS is a surgery where you will never be able to count calories effectively.  Of everything you eat you will absorb a very small small percent of the fats .. about half the protein and almost all carbs.  So we have to be really anal about pushing for proteins first in everything and staying at like 90+g protein a day.

You also won't absorb vitamins well at all .. with any surgery you have to be careful about taking all of your vitamins though.

I chose DS because my problem wasn't that I was eating tons of foods .. It was more metabolic.  And I liked the thought that I could still eat many of the foods I used to love, just in moderation as dictated by the sleeve portion of my DS.  I could not be happier with my surgery.  If you have more questions you can always head over to the DS board and I'm sure more then enough people will jump in to tell you about their choices.

But if you do get the DS, like I said ... counting calories is out because you won't be absorbing nearly as many as the label thinks you will.

Live out loud!  How many people's lives have you touched recently?  Pay it forward
