Today, is my first day of training for the White Rock Marathon (Dallas). I've been running around 10-15 miles a week since completing the White Rock half last fall. I'm praying to stay injury free so I can tackle this dream of doing a full marathon. I also started using PX90 to get in a good mixture.

Even though you didn't ask - My best advice would be to try to keep in tune with any potential injuries that may side track you for a while. If you catch something simple early enough, you can usually keep it at bay with some ice and a few days off. I would also make sure to stretch or do yoga. As you start doing your long runs you will feel what needs to be worked on. It also can't hurt to do some simple exercises to strengthen your hips, knees and ankles. Marathon training takes a lot of time but is well worth it at the start line and obviously the finish line.

Thanks Scott! I didn't do much of anything else besides running, my first time around (trained for the half, last year). However, I think a good mixture will really help me. I'm taking Yoga one day a week as well as PX90. It should help. Thanks again.

They had to move it back to Dec. 5th. Last year, they had an overwhelming about of people signed up and they found out they need to switch things up. The race will end in Fair Park this year. Best wishes for the Goofy race.

Best of luck!  I am seriously thinking of doing this race myself - I go to Dallas often for business, and lived there for 7 years, so kind of like second home for me.  Injury free is the key for sure.  Its really really hard to do these 13+ mile runs and not get issues serious and otherwise.
