I thought I would WANT TO WORKOUT after surgery
100 pounds ago, Curves worked beautifully for me. It did not hurt. it got my heart rate going. It was fun and convenient, and it did not take much time. I walked on the off days from Curves, and the pounds really came off. As I got thinner, I found that Curves didn't serve my needs as well. I did not burn the calories I needed to, I talked too much, and my Curves wasn't open when I needed it to be. So, I moved on to the Y. But I am still a fan of curves to get one in the habit of working out and seeing sucess in the early days when, quite frankly, weight loss is easier. I also recommend couch to 5K as you get healthier. I did that and have now run 3 5K races. I ran 3.4 miles. But I will tell you, I still never look forward to working out. I really ahte doing it, but there is no question but that I msut. If I miss mroe than one day, I start getting antsy and scared that my progress is going backward. So fear motivates me.
Good luck. You're wise to realize that exercise is key. Not an option. Find something you don't mind doing and make it a priority. PUt it in your calendar and make it nonnegotiable. Kind of like a meeting with the boss. After all, if you knew that you would die in 14 days if you failed to work out 12 of them, I bet you'd find a way to work out 12 days.

Yeah, we all hope things will magically be different, but somethings take a lot more effort. Exercise is still one of those "effort" things for me. I took my dog for walks for the first 8 months. The walks got increasingly longer, so that helped, but at the 8 month mark I finally committed to doing more. Since I have become a runner, I am constantly setting goals for myself - either a faster time or a longer distance - and keep those things in sight to make sure I work towards achieving them. So far, so good, but I ain't gonna lie - most days I'd rather watch a movie. I just have to remember that I can watch a movie when i get home. :)

Hi, Denise! I can tell you that I feel your pain with the ATL heat! I live in Montg., AL, and it has been miserable hot this summer, topping off at 107 degrees one afternoon. Anyway, I HATE exercise. However, I found a local YMCA that had TV's on each piece of exercise equipment with all of the basic cable channels. I was a couch potato before and did not "magically" want to exercise, either! I found tha****ching my familiar shows in the afternoon while exercising made the transition MUCH easier. I now do 30 minutes of elliptical and 30 minutes of treadmill 3-5 times per week. I've lost about 65 and have another 60 to lose.
The exercise is key to consistent weight loss, but even better is the toning that occurs. The back of my legs and butt feels like steel. This is the first time in my entire life that diet changes AND exercise has ever made a difference. It was the addition of exercise that made noticeable changes in my body, though. It's great to here compliments about my nice legs and my belly is shrinking, too.
Try to incorporate anything that doesn't bore you out of your skull and remember to schedule your exercise just like anything else. Like me, you may never "like" to exercise, but when the good changes occur and you start to feel good after a workout, it WILL be less painful!
Keep up the good work!!!
