xpost - new to this board... (scale woes - not another stall post )
Good Morning,
This is not another stall post, I promise!
So I really am looking for some advice from you guys. I know all about stalls and to wait them out, and that muscle weighs more than fat and that the scale really isn't a great indicator of things. Really I do! (Have a hard time telling my heart that, but my head knows it).
So here's my dilemma:
I started at 367 - 5'7". Preop diet started 4/15/09 and I lost 55 lbs during that time. RNY on 6/17/09. If you've read my previous posts, I don't get full but I measure, stick to mostly protein w/ dairy and veggies and some whole wheat and PB for energy for workouts. Workout about 4-5 times per week and that's a bit obsessive since I can't get out of the gym in less than 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
I did hit down to about 177 but now I'm back up to about 190. Clothes are still fitting (depending on the store I'm in about a 10 pants - NY&Co - and a medium top). The scale is really what's scaring me. I'm not sure if this is muscle gaining or if I'm just gaining gaining gaining. It's been coming on in the last few weeks. I don't want to regain this weight, but then again if I'm putting it on as muscle (I do weight training as well as cardio) then is that okay that I weigh so much?
I'm not necessarily looking for someone to console me and say it's all okay. I am totally fine with straightforward responses and I promise not to be offended. Please give me your experiences and advice. I appreciate it so much!

Stay off the scale! For three weeks... If your clothes were fitting tighter I would start worrying, but not where you are at now... Keep doing what you are doing.

I can empathize. I have been thinking the same thing. So this is not a response of advice, but just to let you know I understand and I think lots of others do to.
I maintained a lowest weight of 142/143 for a couple of months. Lately I have been maintaining 152/153. I get all kinds of frustrated when I step on the scale. I exercise regularly - for the most part I maintain a healthy diet (with the occaional indulgance), but the weight has stayed the same.
But if I use my head, I know that while the scale might not be changing, my clothes fit the same, and people have asked me if I've lost more weight. This tells me that even though the scale is 10 lbs heavier, my body is changing and I am staying in shape.
Take measurements, let you clothes be the judge, not the scale. I know it's hard. I am there with ya. xoxo
