Hi All.  I've been lurking for awhile now being inspired by all your posts.  I had RNY 4/26/10.  Before surgery, I could barely walk up 1 flight of stairs to my condo without being winded or having to stop 1/2 way up for a short break.  My feet and back were always in pain.

Last month I started working out and this is my current schedule:
M - Turbo Kickboxing
T - Strength training
W - Zumba
Th - Strength training
F - rest day
Sa - Zumba
Su - Strength training

I hope I'm off to a good start with my exercise routine.  I read everything you are all doing and it is inspiring and I hope to get there in the future.

Corina -  Thanks!   I really love kickboxing.  It's a really intense workout and I do my best to keep up.  I figure as long as I'm moving I'm making progress.

WELCOME!!! Congrats on your dedication to  fitness. The only thing I would suggest with your routine is to add cardio in there. Yes, your classes will kick your but, but most folks are anaerobic in those classes and you want to be inb an aerobic zone to maximize fat burn... I might replace 1 zumba class with 30 minutes on treadmill or eliptical, then maybe cross train on the stationary bike or swim. My two cents, best of luck...

Dan -  Thanks for your advice.  I have read your blog and you are a true inspiration.  Do you have any suggestions on books I can get to understand aerobic vs anaerobic and also something on BMR and how I can figure out how many calories I should be eating?
