couch to 5K - any advice?
I'm going to disagree with Scott just a little bit. The problem some people have doing the program with slow run speeds is they find it hard to increase their speed once they can go the 3 miles. Then they get frustrated. I've seen it lots of times. I am more of an advocate of setting the run speed on a TM to at least 6.0 (10-minute miles) and repeating weeks as often as it takes to be able to do the times at that speed. If you have to decrease the walk speed in order to recover, that's better (IMHO) than doing the run slower.

If you had told me that I had to have the run speed at 6 mph when I first started, I never would have started. I never would have been able to do it.
It would have been an utter failure right from the beginning.
I think the program is designed to give you lots of success in the beginning.
I just did the program again from the beginning at a faster speed. I have done it a couple times that way.
However when you look at the distance he has set and compare them to the times, he is running at slightly more than the 6mph pace. It's the only way you can get in 3 + miles in 30 minutes.
