MONDAY WORKOUTS!!! IT'S A NEW MONTH YA'LL....

Happy Monday and Happy August! I am VERY excited about this month and the idea of getting back to training. I have a 70.3 Half Iron Distance next month and I am so stoked to get back to the regimen. October holds a 100 Mile Endurance Run in store, and November, IRONMAN Arizona (If they can refill Tempe Town Lake after the Dams burst last week) and speaking at the OH Convention in Houston! This is going to be an awesome end of the year!!!!

ANYWAYS, I did 32 minutes on the stationary bike and knocked out 13 miles avg 24.4 MPH and then ran a 5k Seudo "Brick" on that eliptical type machine in 18:59.... Not a long workout, but pretty dang intense. WHAT DID YOU DO TODAY????

Cranked out a 5 mile run this morning in GG park. Maintained a 10:35 pace which means the 1/2 pace wasn't a fluke. Yeah

Not that I can compare, but I did completed the week 7 supplement of couch to 5K.  I hope to run my first 5K on Wednesday (one day after my one year surgiversary)! :-)

I need to start doing weights, but they have always scared me and I have no idea where to start!

You are doing great. Don't worry about doing too much all at once.  We all started at the beginning, sometimes more than once.  It will keep progressing.  If you push a bit but too much too quick it will lead to injuries.  Just keep moving forward like you are.

Amy, do you have a gym nearby that offers body pump classes?  That's what I do and I started with NO WEIGHTS.. just a bar (4 lbs) and worked my way up from there.  I'm still not lifting huge amts, but have vastly improved my strength.

Or find a trainer who will take you up slowly.  I have one that is reasonable in cost (20/session) and doesn't over challenge me.. pushes me some, but not in a Jillian Michaels manner.  :)

Just try it.. you might find you love it.
