I am scared to work out again
I have 11 months so far and lost 80 pounds. I am wearing a size 14 and I am very small. I was walking on my tread mill and stopped a few months back. I want t start working out again but I am scared of so many things. I have no hanging skin which I love. But my skin is loose and I want to tighten it but dont know how to. I dont want to get so small I look unhealthy. I think 10 more pounds would put me in a perfect 11,12 jeans which I would love. I am looking at my tread mill every day wanting to get on it. Then reading so many peoples happy story's really make me want to do it. I have never taken protein and want to now but don't know which one to take. I just started the viatamins last month and my hair is growing back. How can I get my drive back?? Thanks
Exercise tones and tightens.
Vitamins and protein aid you in the energy and health you need to be more active.
Don't take this the wrong way, it is not meant to be insulting; but in m y understanding, you have done the many of the right things to be flabby and have loose skin - minimal exercise and little to no protein and vitmains have encouraged your body and metabolism to cannibolize your muscle tissue for the protein based fuel it needs day-today, which aids in weigh loss but also reduces your ability to burn calories with less muscle mass.
So theres my ever so brief motivational pep talk to get on the treadmll and perfect the process.
If you have minimal-to-no loose skin and have gotten that small, working out may or may not accelerate your weight loss, but it Oh Baby! it will most certainly aid you in getting into those smaller waistline clothes and develop a reproportioned more beautiful you.
Are you reading from the treadmill yet?

some depression could be from the lack of vitamins. I had some issues and turned out I had a potassium deficit. I didn't even realize potassium had anything to do with feeling depressed. Icalled the suregoens' office and told thenm I had been really down and the nurse told me to eat a banana and call her back in an hour or so. in 30 minutes I caught myself whistling at work. I called back and they scheduled me for some blood work and now I take a double prenatal multi with iron (because prenatal have 28 instead of 18 mg), 2-3 99mg potassiums, and two 2500 B-12 a day, in additio to my BP med and some other stuff like my 81 mg aspirin etc. It can make a real difference. Of course some more compliments as you tighten up with some exercise will help the sad feeling too.
Good goin there Shady!!
Good goin there Shady!!
I do banana with some reduced fat PB rolled on a wheat tortilla (banana burrito)
I throw a banana with some OJ or cranberry juice, sometimes some strawberries, with a scoop of protein powder and some ice into a blender = fruit smoothie,...yum!
1 minute oatmeal with a scoop of protein powder and a diced banana or strawberries and a squeeze (tblsp) of clover honey.
U don't hafta do straight up banana, unless you're just a purist and hard that way.

I'm not going to get into nutrition or fueling, because as far as I'm concerned, that should be between you, your surgeon, and your nutritionist.
What I will say, is that the reasons you should exercise have nothing to do with size or weight loss and everything to do with overall health and wellness. Getting good quality cardio exercise (minimum 30 minutes 5 days a week according to the NIH) and strength training are the keys. These together help keep your heart and lungs healthy as well as keeping your lipid panel in check and blood pressure low (which decreases your risk of heart disease). Weight loss and improved strength and endurance are just bonuses.
I'm nearly 6.5 years post op, and these are the things that I try to think about. I do train and race, although I'll never be very fast. But the main reason I do this is to keep motivated about getting good quality exercise.
So, I'm encouraging you to start exercising regularly and get in touch with your nutritionist to help determine what your actual needs are.
Good Luck!
