How soon after surgery have folks begun exercising on the elliptical machine?  It seems very gentle on the body.  I'm three + weeks out.  Just curious when it's generally safe to start walking on the elliptical.  Thanks, Tony

i think i started using the elliptical a bit after my doc cleared me for all exercise around 6 weeks.  as soon as i could jog, i waved bye-bye to the elliptical.
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

right now.  somewhere.  somebody is working harder than you.

I was released for exercise at 2 weeks. I could run/jog at 2 weeks (more like 4), I could however bike.

Take it at your own pace. The eliptical while still have your tummy going up and down.

That being said - it's great to get into exercise early and often.

I went back to the gym at 2 weeks. But I prefer the stationary bike so that's what I did. I found anything that exercised my core was out until about 1-2 months though. It just didn't feel right.

I was allowed on the elliptical "as soon as I was ready" after surgery. To "listen" to my body.....

Day 5, I did 5 minutes on the bike, 5 minutes on the elliptical, and 5 minutes on the treadmill.  I've increased by a minute or 2 every day.

I am now @ day 13 and can do about 25-30 minutes on the elliptical at a lower resistance than pre-surgery.  I still break a sweat.  I'll gradually increase to 45 minutes, then increase incline and resistance.  I get pooped out, not sore....my body is still adjusting to less calories.
